Belvedere Estate Wedding | Saugatuck, Michigan

If you've been dreaming of a wedding that feels like it belongs somewhere in the European countryside without leaving Michigan, Belvedere Estate in Saugatuck is one to put on your list.

Built by Italian artisans in 1912, the estate is filled with the kind of character you can't recreate in a modern venue: wrought iron details, hand-laid stone pathways, original parquet floors, manicured gardens and historic architecture overlooking the surrounding landscape.

I recently photographed an editorial wedding at Belvedere Estate, and what immediately stood out to me was how much variety the property offers. Gardens, old-world architecture, beautiful interiors and an incredible outdoor terrace are all within steps of each other.

For couples looking for something romantic, elevated and a little European, Belvedere Estate is easily one of the most unique wedding venues in West Michigan.

A Wedding Day at Belvedere Estate

One of my favorite things about Belvedere is that your entire wedding can happen in one place without every part of the day looking or feeling the same.

The Garden Ceremony Space accommodates up to 250 guests from April through October, with manicured gardens and the historic estate creating an incredible backdrop for an outdoor ceremony.

From there, the Outdoor Terrace offers space for approximately 75–100 guests. Its elevated views, original Italian wrought iron railings and sunset-facing orientation make it especially beautiful for cocktail hour and evening portraits.

For intimate receptions, The Great Room accommodates approximately 75–80 guests year-round. Original parquet floors, historic chandeliers, soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows give the room plenty of character without needing to completely transform the space.

Belvedere also has The Cottage, a naturally lit getting-ready space accommodating approximately 20 people, so your wedding day can truly begin and end on the property.

Photographing a Belvedere Estate Wedding

This is where Belvedere really shines for me as a photographer.

During the editorial I photographed here, we could move between romantic gardens, stone pathways, historic architecture, wrought iron details and the terrace without ever getting into a car.

That means you don't need to disappear from your wedding for an hour just to create variety in your gallery.

Your wedding deserves to be experienced.

I'd much rather photograph you actually enjoying cocktail hour with your favorite people, then steal you away for ten minutes when the light gets incredible, than build your entire wedding timeline around taking photographs.

Belvedere gives us the architecture, landscape and light to make that possible.

You stay present. I'll take care of the rest.

Getting Married in Saugatuck, Michigan

Belvedere's location is another part of its appeal.

With downtown Saugatuck and Douglas, Lake Michigan, beaches, restaurants and galleries nearby, your guests have plenty to experience outside of the wedding itself.

For couples with friends and family traveling from around Michigan, Chicago or beyond, a Saugatuck wedding can have the feeling of a destination wedding without requiring everyone to fly across the country.
