Alaska Haus Wedding Venue | Elegant Michigan Wedding Inspiration
If you're looking for a Michigan wedding venue that combines historic charm with modern elegance, Alaska Haus in Caledonia is a beautiful setting for a celebration. Originally built as a church around 1880, the property was thoughtfully renovated in 2021, preserving its original wooden beams and stained glass windows while introducing modern touches. From its outdoor ceremony space to its inviting reception area, Alaska Haus offers couples the opportunity to create a wedding day that feels uniquely their own.
I had the pleasure of photographing Hannah and Fin's Alaska Haus wedding celebration, filled with timeless details, heartfelt moments, and a dance floor that stayed packed all evening.
An Elegant, Candlelit Reception at Alaska Haus
Hannah and Fin kept their wedding aesthetic classic and understated, with crisp details, simple floral arrangements, and warm candlelight throughout the reception.
The combination created an intimate, inviting atmosphere even with a room full of guests. From a photography perspective, I loved how the candlelight added warmth to the space while allowing the details and genuine moments to shine.
For couples planning an Alaska Haus wedding, it's a wonderful example of how simple, intentional design can make a lasting impression.
Outdoor Ceremonies & Wedding Portraits
Alaska Haus also offers an outdoor ceremony space toward the back of the property, easily accessible from the main venue. It's a convenient option for couples wanting to keep their ceremony and reception in one location.
Although Hannah and Fin had already eloped privately, we still made time for portraits together.
Neither had experienced professional couples photography before, and both were a little nervous. With some gentle direction and a relaxed approach, we created natural, meaningful portraits without taking too much time away from their celebration.
A Celebration Worth Traveling For
Hannah and Fin first met at Aquinas College, where their relationship began to grow through friendship, faith, and a shared understanding of love.
For Fin, who had moved from England, Hannah helped Michigan begin to feel like home.
Their Alaska Haus celebration brought together the people who had been part of their journey, including friends who traveled all the way from England.
The heartfelt speeches, tears from their moms, and packed dance floor made it clear just how loved these two are. More than anything, Hannah and Fin wanted to spend time with their favorite people, and that's exactly what they did.
