A Luxe & Timeless Saint Johns Resort Wedding in Plymouth, Michigan | Zoe & Luciano
Zoe and Luciano’s Saint John’s Resort wedding in Plymouth, Michigan was the perfect blend of elegance, intention, and timeless romance. Set in Plymouth, Michigan on a crisp Halloween-day fall afternoon, their celebration unfolded with emotional moments, thoughtful details, and a kind of love story that feels straight out of a film. And knowing their history made documenting this day even more special.
These two first met back in 2017 during their sophomore homecoming dance — introduced by Zoe’s sister, Shar. They danced the entire night together, completely unaware that they had just stepped into a lifetime connection. Fast forward to June 2023, when Luciano proposed on a sunlit beach at Keewaydin Island during a family trip to Florida. Their love has always been intentional, and their wedding day reflected exactly that.
I’m a Michigan wedding photographer capturing weddings at venues like Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, Michigan. This venue is one of my favorites for its timeless architecture, beautiful grounds, and versatility for both ceremonies and receptions.
Getting Ready at Saint John’s Resort | Plymouth, Michigan
The day began with that unmistakable Michigan fall atmosphere — cool air, golden leaves, and the kind of quiet that feels emotional and grounding. Inside the bridal suite, Zoe got ready surrounded by her closest people. Her bridesmaids wore stunning ivory and taupe silk gowns, while the men wore classic black tuxes that complemented the overall palette perfectly.
Their color palette — ivory, taupe, and greenery — was chosen for its timelessness, and it lined up effortlessly with the feeling of the entire day: classy, clean, and elevated without ever being overdone.
As I moved between the rooms capturing candids, I could feel how much this day meant to everyone in their orbit.
Saint Mary and Joseph Chapel Ceremony | Saint John’s Resort Wedding
Their ceremony took place at Saint Mary and Joseph Chapel, one of the most charming parts of a Saint Johns Resort wedding day. This chapel has an intimate, historic feel — warm wood, natural light, and an atmosphere that makes every vow feel amplified.
As Zoe walked down the aisle, you could feel the emotion ripple through the room. The chapel held their story with so much reverence. Their vows echoed gently, paired with soft teary moments from both families. It was thoughtful, beautiful, and deeply moving.
Wedding Portraits at Saint John’s Resort Golf Course
After the ceremony, we moved to the resort grounds for portraits — something I love doing here because Saint Johns Resort has some of the best portrait locations in Michigan. As a Saint John’s Resort wedding photographer, this is one of my favorite locations in Michigan for portraits because of the open space and natural light. The golf course especially is a hidden gem. Wide open greens, soft rolling hills, and peaceful space away from the busyness of the day.
I helped guide Zoe and Luciano to some of my favorite spots for that cinematic, editorial feel while still keeping everything natural and relaxed. This little pocket of time is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day — it gives couples a moment to breathe and reconnect.
And later that evening, we captured some stunning flash portraits that Zoe fell in love with. They added a luxe, high-end edge to the nighttime part of their gallery.
Saint John’s Resort Wedding Reception
Stepping into the reception space, the room was absolutely breathtaking. The real floral table décor was unforgettable — cascading orchids, lush greenery, real grapes tucked into arrangements, and warm candlelight dancing across every table. It was clean, romantic, and incredibly intentional.
Guests enjoyed an elevated dinner while laughter filled the room, and the toasts brought out the best kind of emotions — joyful, nostalgic, grateful.
And then… the dance floor lit up.
A Thriller Moment to Remember
Right after the father-daughter dance, Zoe surprised everyone with a fully choreographed Thriller dance with her dad — the perfect nod to their Halloween wedding date. The entire room erupted. It was fun, unexpected, and absolutely iconic.
These are the moments that make a wedding day feel like them. Real, joyful, unforgettable.
How We Connected
Zoe and Luciano first met me at the Ford Field Bridal Show in Detroit in 2024, and I remember instantly loving her energy. Later, I worked alongside their planner, the incredible Heather Cannon of Daisy Lane Coordination to bring the full vision of the day to life. Zoe wanted a photographer who could capture real emotion in a way that still felt elevated and artistic — and it was such an honor to be that person for them.
